Mission Statement

The Hawaii Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture Association is a non-profit organization composed of licensed acupuncturists and students being desirous of associating ourselves together to promote the general welfare of all, to protect and advance our profession, to promote and encourage a better understanding, friendship and closer relationship among ourselves and to promote the successful utilization of the art of acupuncture within this state by the public in general, to stabilize and make more uniform the standards of acupuncture in this state, and to encourage and promote greater effectiveness in the profession.

Purposes

The following are the purposes and objective for which this Association has been organized:

1.   To further the public’s awareness and knowledge of the art of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in its various techniques and uses in preventing, alleviating, remedying and  eliminating various pains and illnesses in the human body.

2.  To foster cooperation and understanding with and among various professions connected with medicine in the preventing, alleviating, remedying and eliminating various pains and  illnesses in the human body.

3.  To cooperate in and contribute toward the further understanding of acupuncture and Oriental medicine as a means of preventing, alleviating, remedying and eliminating various pains and illnesses in the human body among both members of the profession and members of other professions dedicated to or involving similar or identical purposes or activities.

4.  To collect and disseminate statistics and other useful information concerning  acupuncture and Oriental medicine; to carry on and assist in research, investigations, experiments, conferences and publication is connection with the profession and art of acupuncture and Oriental medicine.

5.  To voluntarily extend aid or assistance, financial or otherwise, and to cooperate with such private or governmental bodies, corporations, associations, institutions, societies, agencies or persons as are now or may hereafter be engaged in whole or in part in furtherance of the objects and purposes herein named.

6.  To establish, encourage and monitor minimum standards of health and safety in the practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine and to foster an international focus among Hawaii acupuncture practitioners, with the goal of improving the quality of life worldwide.

7.  To educate and to make available to the members of the Association, new techniques, innovations, information and statistics regarding the practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine.

8.  To promote and to encourage the establishment of a strong and sympathetic bond of fellowship among the members of the Association, thereby securing unity of action and effort in the accomplishment of a common purpose.

9.  To aid in the correction and reformation of any wrong, affecting the general interest of  the Association.

10. To establish and monitor minimum standards of advertising in compliance with state and municipal laws, rules and regulations.
